The future

You know what's absurd?

It's just occurred to me that the more technically enabled (with regard to my ability to post to my blog, from anywhere) I become, the less inclined I seem to be to do so.

I now have almost total connectivity, between the MacBook Air¹ I'm writing this on (using the free wifi connection on the bus I take to work), and my Droid X2 (which with Verizon, in the Valley, has 3G everywhere). However evidently I haven't been posting anywhere as much as I used to.

Conversely I remember the joy I felt when I obtained my k800i, which came with native support for blogger.com! How I reveled in the fact that I could take a picture (with a flash!), painstakingly type out a post on the T9 input keypad (boy I'm glad that generation of input device has passed), and then watch the progress bar build over two minutes as the image uploaded. Perhaps it's just a techno-masochistic trait I have, I am a Haskell programmer and a Vim user after all...

Although: I have been a little busy getting married, moving in to a new apartment, finding and starting a new job, and generally doing all those things which it becomes apparent one must do when they emigrate. I'm quietly hoping that 2012 will be a little more settled than 2011 (it can hardly be more volatile!) and so we'll see if it was the tech or the circumstance.

¹ I should note that I'm using a MacBook Air because I acquired one through my new job, now to allay any fears I should note that I'm presently wearing the Tux t-shirt which my wife bought me (), so all is not lost. That said I am seriously giving OS X a go, I mean there must be something going for it, right?
Well, I'm going to see how I get on and report back after a few months. I must confess I was quite confident I'd 'get in to it', until I read this, and some of his comments already ring true..
